Poems I Wrote

Below are a few poems that I wrote.

“A Place”

What if there
was a place
like where we are now
that ran where it wanted?
What if we got it all wrong?
What if we don’t
orbit around the sun?
What if our world just wanted to run?
What if there was a place
like a person?
What if it had a mind of it’s own?
What would it do?
What if there was a
purely perfect place
with no war
or suffering?
No
BOOM
of bombs
and guns?
What if…
What if…
What if…
There is no place like this…

“Happy”

Happy
skipped around the room.
She let out a big smile.
She jumped up
and down.
She started laughing.
She looked like a puppy
jumping around like that.
Her cheeks became red
as a strawberry
from laughing so much.
She wasn’t even the slightest bit
cracky
or sad
Instead,
her smile
stretched even wider
as she
thought good thoughts.

“Home”

Home
is important.
If you let it get too far away,
you’ll lose it forever.
Home
is family.
Home
is like a crystal.
It’s precious.
It can be something to show off
or something to cherish.
Home
is important.
Home
is happiness.
Home
is important.
If you let it get too far away,
then
BAM!
You’ll lose it forever.
Home is important.

“Hungry”

I’m hungry.
Stomach growling,
mouth watering,
teeth clenching.
I see the food.
My teeth get ready for
that nice spaghetti.

“Me”

Sometimes I think
about an imaginary world
where there’s no religion,
and we just happened to appear on earth.
No God
or gods.
We just appeared.
This world always brings me to the magical question.
What is the meaning of life?
I was hoping this world could tell me.
but it hasn’t.
Not yet.
All I’ve been able to uncover is that
I am I,
me is me,
I am me,
me is I,
and you are you.
Be who you are.
We blossomed into a flower.
Me is a flower.
You is a flower.
How we came to the real world
is like a seed.
We were planted
and watered
by something bigger than us.
Much bigger.
Me was planted.
You was planted
until we blossomed into a flower.
Me blossomed.
You blossomed.
Me is a flower.
You is a flower.
A fabulous flower.
A fantastic flower.
We
WOOSH,
WOOSH,
WOOSH
in the wind,
so now,
when I think about my imaginary world,
I’ll think about a flower
and the seed
that planted us.
I am I,
me is me,
I am me,
me is I,
and you are you.
Be
who you are.

“The Memory”

Fatigue,
Fatigue,
Fatigue.
So much fatigue.
Too much fatigue.
Rest.
I need rest.
I lie down on my bed,
and the memory comes.
It climbs into my brain.
The memory is a light
that shines in my head
waking up my fatigued body.
It’s like a rainbow.
It reminds me of the feelings that I felt.
The colors that I felt.
I felt the happiness of red,
the sadness of blue,
the orange
and yellow ray of the sun
shining on my back.
I felt the green grass prickle my feet.
I felt it all.
All the feelings.
All the colors.
The memory is a light.
The magical memory is a light
that shines in my head.
FLASH,
FLASH,
FLASHING
in my head.
The memory
is a light.

“The Photo”

I look down
at the photo
lazily lying there
on the big brown table
and like a bird
the memories flew at me.
I saw them all.
My mom and dad,
my brother and sister,
and me.
Right there in the middle
was me.
We all looked so happy.
Why couldn’t it always
be like this?

“The View”

I stared at
the mountains.
The great grey mountains.
I climbed up a rock
to get a better view.
I stood
and stared.
Stood
and stared.
No view could compare to this.
This view.
This vibrant view.
I felt the wind hit me,
so I pulled up my hood
and stood
and stared.
Stood
and stared.
The wonderful white clouds,
the beautiful blue sky,
and the mountains.
The
great grey mountains.
