Narrative Celebration

PhotoPhotoPhoto

We had a narrative celebration. When we all had finished our personal narratives in class, Mrs. Xuereb set up a little party where our parents came in and read our narratives. Above, are pictures of us at the narrative celebration. Below, is the story that I wrote for the narrative celebration. It would be AWESOME if you read my story. Also, you could give me a comment about it. I hope you enjoy my story.

The Colosseum
By Tom
Come on! I yelled as I pulled my brother and sister by the hand and pushed them out of the train. I looked back and saw my mom, dad, and sister-in-law coming out of the ocean of people. I ran to the steps of the metro station in Rome, Italy and hurried up them two steps at a time.
My eyes adjusted to the sun. There it was. The Colosseum. I had seen pictures of it on my dad’s computer but it didn’t feel nearly as real as it did when I was staring at it with my own two eyes. I imagined hundreds of workers carrying big barrels of clay and water and carefully making and adding bricks to the wall. It must have taken years to build this, I thought. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was my brother, Alex.
“Well would you look at that! He exclaimed.
“Isn’t this cool!” my sister-in-law, Amy asked me.
“Yeah!” I replied. “It’s AWESOME!”
We crossed the street and carefully stepped through the crowd of people. “Sorry! excuse me!” We all said. Finally, we walked through the enormous doors and got our tickets. We all lined up ready to enter the Colosseum. My heart pounded with excitement as we walked through another door and there it was. My mouth dropped open and my eyes widened. We stopped. “Wow!” I exclaimed.
“That is absolutely amazing!” Alex beamed. We all looked at the inside of the Colosseum with amazement. Tourists walked along the cracked marble floor of the Colosseum. The battle ground that gladiators once fought on was eroded from age so you could see the underground tunnels below. Finally, after taking in the beautiful scenery, we began walking around. We started toward the rail that people once leaned on watching the battles. I looked down at the cracked battlefield and like a puzzle all the little parts came together and I could still see the ferocious and hungry lions and tigers charging to catch their prey. I could still see the gladiators in their shining armor ready to fight.
After about an hour of looking around my mom said “Why don’t we all have some water. It’s a very hot day today.” We all agreed and went to find some shade. Once we had found some shade, Alex and Amy, took a few bottles of water out of their packs and handed them to us. After we drank some water, Alex said “Well, this has been a wonderful experience, but I think we’ll have to go soon if we want to see some more of Rome.”
“Yeah.” my sister, Natalie, agreed looking at her watch.
“OK, so how about this. We’ll take one last look at the Colosseum and then we go get some gelato ice cream.” My dad said with a smile.
“Yes!” I exclaimed. Everyone laughed.

I looked at the Colosseum one last time as we exited through the big doors. “Good bye Colosseum.” I whispered.
